What this document is
- The fact sheet for Vibe Camp Season 2, the MapleStory game jam on MSU Space (Verse8’s MapleStory IP vibe coding environment).
- It is consulted when a builder asks about schedule, eligibility, credits, submission, entry rules, judging, prizes, or links. Everything about how to answer, the theme, and how to shape ideas lives in the persona prompt.
- The official source of truth for jam information is the published builder announcement, the MSU docs, and the Verse8 Discord. This document restates them for chat lookup; chat is a convenience surface, not the authority.
- If a builder asks something this document does not cover, do not extrapolate from it. Route to the Verse8 Discord.
Schedule
- A 4-week global game jam. Build a game in MSU Space on Verse8 using MapleStory IP and its asset library (art, effects, sound, any MapleStory asset).
- Opens: August 18, 06:00 UTC.
- Submissions close: September 15, 06:00 UTC.
- Winners announced: October 8. The time of day is not published.
Eligibility and setup
- Anyone may enter, developer or not, free of charge, subject to the restrictions below. No coding required: the builder describes the game in plain words and the AI builds it.
- Restrictions. Participation and prize receipt are not available to citizens or residents of the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Russia, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Libya, Myanmar, Sudan, or the Crimea, Donetsk, or Luhansk regions of Ukraine, or of any other country or region where they are restricted by law, or to anyone on an applicable sanctions list. The minimum age is 19. Further conditions are set out in the Vibe Camp Terms & Conditions, which govern participation. The MSU Space Terms of Service apply as well.
- New builders start here: Getting Started with MSU SPACE (create a Verse8 account, connect the MSU Builder account, make a first game with AI).
- Teams are allowed. Each game is submitted under one account. A team’s prize goes to its designated representative, the person who completes KYC (see Prizes).
- KYC is not required to enter. It is required only to receive a prize (see Prizes).
Credits
Making a game with AI uses credits. An MSU Builder account connected to Verse8 gets a free credit allowance that resets every week. A Builder account is not the same as the account used to play MapleStory N. Anyone without a Builder account signs up first at Builder .
To connect an MSU Builder account to Verse8, follow the Getting Started with MSU SPACE.
Submission and entry rules
- Publishing is not entering. A game published in MSU Space is not an entry until it is also submitted through the form before the deadline: MapleStory Vibe Camp Season 2 Submission . Accepting the Vibe Camp Terms & Conditions is part of that submission.
- What the form asks for: the game’s details, contact details, and wallet information. Prizes are sent using what is submitted there, so wrong or invalid wallet or account details can cost the prize. That is the builder’s responsibility.
- Multiple submissions are allowed. Each game is judged and can win on its own, and one game takes only one award beyond its Official Selection share (see Precedence under Prizes), so more entries mean more chances.
- Season 1 re-entry: a Season 1 game may be entered again if the builder thinks it fits the theme. Season 2 runs four weeks, so polishing it further beats a straight resubmit.
- Season 1 exclusion: a game that won The Campfire, The Base Camp, The Summoner, or The Top Traffic Games in Season 1 cannot win anything in Season 2. It cannot make the Official Selection, take a share of it, or take any other prize. Every other Season 1 game can win, including one that won The True Camper. Those builders may still enter Season 2 with a new game.
- Post-deadline updates: allowed, but judging scores whatever version is live when it is played, and the builder will not know exactly when that is. Finish a working game by September 15, 06:00 UTC, and treat later changes as extra polish. Changes that go past polish and make it a different game may be judged as the game stood at the deadline, or excluded.
Judging
Entry gates. Fail either and the entry is not scored.
- No game-breaking bug: nothing that stops a player from finishing a run.
- Built with MapleStory resources: art, effects, sound, whatever the builder likes. Any one of them clears the gate, and adding the builder’s own assets on top is allowed. Asset search: MSU Resources Search Guide
Theme fit is not an entry gate. The only gates are the two above. The theme describes what the judges hope to see, and an entry that fits it has a good chance of scoring well.
Scoring. The judges play every entry start to finish and score three axes, 0 to 5 each.
| Axis | Weight | What it measures |
|---|---|---|
| Fun | 40% | How much the player wants to keep playing. A game you cannot put down beats a merely clever or polished one. |
| Creativity | 30% | Freshness of the idea. A new mechanic or unexpected twist scores high; a straight copy of a known game scores low even if well made. |
| Quality | 30% | Juice, responsiveness, readability. Instant satisfying feedback, controls that respond in a blink, clean visuals read at a glance. |
- The Official Selection (the shortlist) has no fixed size. The judges select it by considering their evaluations and each game’s metrics as a whole.
- Mobile playability is not scored but breaks ties. Between two games close for a prize, the one that also shines on mobile takes it.
Prizes
Prize pool $15,000. Only games that make the Official Selection win anything; everything else takes nothing. Every prize is paid in NXPC (Nexpace token). The USD amounts below are converted into NXPC at the daily closing price of NXPC against the US dollar on Binance for the date the winners are announced (October 8), and the same rate is applied to every winner.
KYC. Winners must complete KYC verification to receive a prize. Verification takes place after the winners are announced, and no NXPC is released until it is complete. This applies to every winner, including a team’s designated representative.
| Award | Amount |
|---|---|
| Official Selection | $4,000 split across the Selection games (per-game amount depends on how many make it) |
| Overall, by total score | Grand Prize $2,500 · First Runner-Up $1,500 · Second Runner-Up $1,000 |
| Category, scored on one axis alone | Top Fun, Top Creativity, Top Quality. Within each: first $800, second $500, third $300 |
| The Golden Jank | $200, one game, for the most deliberately absurd entry. The jank (its deliberately rough, clumsy feel) must be on purpose, and the game underneath must actually work. |
| Community Favorite | Ten games, $100 each, for the games that win players over most across the whole range of engagement |
Precedence. Apart from its Official Selection share, a game takes only one award. Where a game qualifies for several, it keeps the largest and passes each one it gives up to the next game in line. Where no eligible game is left for an award, that award lapses. The order, largest first: Grand Prize, First Runner-Up, Second Runner-Up, then the first places in the three categories (Top Fun, Top Creativity, Top Quality, in that order), then the second places in the same order, then the third places, then The Golden Jank, then Community Favorite.
